Lokebox Studio — Explain No. 01
Calibre
One pocket watch, taken apart along a single axis until the mechanism explains itself.
Reveal, Not Reskin
A watch sold whole asks you to want it. A watch explained asks you to understand it: every plate, every wheel, every jewel pulled back along one line until the case stops hiding the part that actually keeps time.
Sequence, Crystal to Caseback
- 01CaseSteel shell, anchor of the sequence. No offset: every other part moves around it.
- 02CrystalLifts clear, toward the eye. Furthest part forward, 36 mm off the dial.
- 03HandsHour, minute, second. Float just above the dial they read.
- 04DialChapter ring and raised indices, the surface everything else explains.
- 05Gear trainBarrel, centre, third, fourth, escape: the chain that turns the hands.
- 06EscapementBalance wheel, hairspring, pallet fork: the part that actually regulates time.
- 07BridgesTrain bridge and balance bridge, holding the movement's pivots in place.
- 08CasebackFurthest layer, exhibition ring. 137 mm back from the crystal.

Detail — Escapement
The part of the movement that actually regulates time: a balance wheel swinging against a hairspring, released one tooth at a time by a pallet fork. Everything else in the case exists to wind it, count it, or show it.
